Kristiana, with a shoe, by the benches,
Today we had our first proper day in Zimbabwe. First we split into coaching groups and I am at a school called St Josephine's. We taught the basic foundations of tag rugby to two different groups of children in grade 4. Most of them didn't know anything about the rules- which was quite hard. It was really fun playing games like bulldog with them! The girls also always ask touch my hair as they haven't seen blonde hair before before and i don't mind as long as they ask first! In the end I think they were definitely improving and they were running around learning to pass backwards. They seemed to be having a great time too, and I reffed my first game which i actually really enjoyed.
In the afternoon, we went to a local old peoples home and split into three projects, one painting a toilet block, one building a duck/chicken pen, and the other gardening. I did some building today including brick laying which was really satisfying and surprisingly fun, although quite hot. Back at camp we have started to play a game with the tag leaders (like real life cluedo) where everyone drew a name, a location and a 'weapon', from the camp. The aim is to give your weapon to your target to kill them. Kristiana got killed by accepting a shoe from Darcey on the benches. Tensions are running high as everyone is cautious not to be killed, though it is also very funny when people attempt to give random objects to each other.
The food is really good here and the camp has an amazing viewing platform where we watched sunset- you can also see Victoria falls from there in the day which is incredible. We are visiting next week which i am so excited for. On Friday we are selecting 2 teams from each of the schools we coach to play in a tournament so we need to make sure all of the kids know the rules by then!!!
