Wednesday 19th: Tournament 2
Hello Strangers!
Freddie and Ciara here for your daily update:
Today started with a freezing 05.30 awakening. Brekky was at six with some Zambian Coco-Pops (far better than English ones)We headed out at 06.30 for a 75 minute drive to our tournament. It started pretty breezily but soon the intensity ramped up. All of the matches went well. Both of us showcased some good reffing skills to be selected as referees for the finals. My game (Ciara) was a draw at full time and went on for about 40 minutes to decide the 2023 Under 1.5 metre tall Champions. I was then interviewed by ZNBC Sports Channel.
Once all was finished we packed up the minibus to begin our gruelling return journey with a detour to the airport to pick up Lily's bag with lots of power naps on the way!
Back at Eureka Freddie enjoyed a cold dip in the pool. Before dinner Emmanuel (the local politician) greeted us at the bar for the nightly chat by the pool table. Dinner started with (in the words of Fraser "a spider the size of a small child" crawling across the table at lightening speed. After a quick getaway with a stubbed toe Ciara was saved by Cassie who heroically picked it up and took it to the garden. Dinner was a real beaut - roast chicken dinner.
All in all a great day wrapped up without Freddie getting another "dick of the day award"! An exhausting but fulfilling day at Eureka Camp ending with a chilled night in the bar.
See you next time we write the daily blog.
