Tournament 4 - 22/07

Hi Mum, Dad and Josh, 

Today we did out 4th tournament. The children were very nice and i enjoyed todays atmosphere. Its our last night here and tomorrow is a 5:30 start and we leave at 6.30 for Zimbabwe. The past couple of days have been a real experience and i thoroughly enjoyed the elephant orphanage. We have seen lots of zebras and giraffes around the camp as well! I have reffed a couple of tournament games but i am definitely not fully confident yet. Im excited to see where we are staying next and help coach lots of children in Zimbabwe. We visited lots of schools on thursday it was quite upsetting but im thankful we can make a difference. Miss you guys, looking forward to seeing you soon! x

POV DARCEY- 

Dearest Mummy, Daddy and Tommy, 

Its been a very interesting trip so far but the main thing is that i'm okay! To kickstart the holiday, me Olivia, and Lily got pulled aside for random checks in security..... they swabbed our shoes for explosives- great start!  Olivia and i also found out at the airport that we dont know the pin numbers for our cards lol - bit embarassing. Good job we already had cash for Zambia. 

On Sunday we visited churches with AMAZING songs and cute babies, we still have the songs stuck in our head to this day. On Thursday, we visited some schools who were in the poorest communities. It was incredibly eye opening to see! We had our 4th tournament today where i reffed two games completely alone! The children are incredibly adorbs to work with and we involved them in a throwing game today.

The food has been good and the lady who cooks for us is from Cape Town! Me and Ava are sharing a chalet, but in the evenings we go to the bar and either play darts or pool or cards- not too bad. I drink everynight on Mr Horrod's tab. On thursday we had pizza night which was nice as bought some home from home normality.

I miss you all incredibly and would kill to see you all again. I hope everything is okay over there and everyone is safe. I hope the last day of school and coaching this morning in football completely alone went okay Tommy xxx

Farewell Zimbabwe!

This morning I woke up at 6:30 thanks to Bens amazing wake up calls. I had scrambled egg sandwiches and jam on toast. After breakfast we went to the school I was coaching at and held a tournament for all the schools that we have been coaching. We got there and set up the pitches. Sami and I taught the kids the Haka. I refereed some of the games on my pitch, however  I may have missed a couple of offsides. None of the teams from my school made it to the final the tournament was very competitive! Cassie's team won and were very happy! There were a few tears from the team that came second! After the tournament we went to the camp we were staying in and packed up quickly then had lunch for the last time in Zimbabwe.  We said our goodbyes and headed to the border back into Zambia.  Good evening ladies and gentlemen!! Today we present to you the 2nd to last blog of Zambia, so we are expecting plenty of comments (cough cough, the Donaldson's, you have been very quiet!!) We started off with a late breakfast...it was supposed to be at 7:30 but was served at 8:20! All the boys had a lazy sleep in because Ben, their alarm, ignored his own alarm and did not wake them up! At 10am we set of for our big trip to Vicky Falls, it was nice and moist...! We got up close and personal with the baboons! We began by hiking down to the Boiling Pot which was a torturous hike through the baboon ridden jungle up and over rocks and through streams! It was all worth it as we were treated to stunning views of the bottom of the falls!! After we hiked back up through the baboon ridden jungle we crossed the Knife-Edge Bridge and broke into uncontrollable laughter as Amelie stacked it on the bridge which we caught from multiple camera angles!!
