Vicky Falls
Good evening ladies and gentlemen!!
Today we present to you the 2nd to last blog of Zambia, so we are expecting plenty of comments (cough cough, the Donaldson's, you have been very quiet!!)
We started off with a late breakfast...it was supposed to be at 7:30 but was served at 8:20! All the boys had a lazy sleep in because Ben, their alarm, ignored his own alarm and did not wake them up! At 10am we set of for our big trip to Vicky Falls, it was nice and moist...! We got up close and personal with the baboons! We began by hiking down to the Boiling Pot which was a torturous hike through the baboon ridden jungle up and over rocks and through streams! It was all worth it as we were treated to stunning views of the bottom of the falls!! After we hiked back up through the baboon ridden jungle we crossed the Knife-Edge Bridge and broke into uncontrollable laughter as Amelie stacked it on the bridge which we caught from multiple camera angles!! Once we stopped laughing we were treated to gorgeous views of Vicky Falls. We got so close that we ended up drenched through from all the spray from the falls.
Once we dried put we jumped in a taxi back to Fawlty Towers and had a quick to Shoprite for some scran before popping to the Rhinos Rugby Club for a game of tag rugby against the young leaders...we lost :(
We got back for a mid afternoon dip on the pool fully clothed, for some, and chilled until dusk.
As the sun set, Cassie was playing with a rugby ball and her ring had major FOMO so it slipped off her finger and had a dip in the pool. James (the Zambian tag rugby president) being the hero that he is, claimed he could swim and retrieve the ring for Cassie (he cannot swim and did not retrieve the ring) Cassie, Ben and Dylan, using a net and a stick retrieved the ring just in time for din dins.
The night was young. The Esher High Gang took to the streets of Livingstone for a scrumdiddlyumptious italiano dinner. Sami, the human hoover finished both out meals and his. We claimed the streets back once again for a stroll back to Fawlty Towers for the beginning of the end of our trip - an amazing quiz, which of course we won!!
We leave it here, the night growing old as we embrace every African hour we have left ( fun fact: An hour in Africa is 60mins :o).
Ciao ciao for now!
Peace and love
Maggie and Ciara
Thanks for the awesome blog and stunning pictures of Vic Falls. Sounds like you got a bit of a lie-in at last today! Keep sending us lots of pics and news for your last two days, we are loving it.
ReplyDeleteGreat blog entry! Ben has some recent experience of attempted marine salvage so great that they were able to get your ring back Cassie :-)
ReplyDeleteCough Cough. Ah ha. Sorry for the radio silence. Trying to navigate blogger from a field with a phone with no signal has proved (almost - not quite) just as hard as trying to retrieve a ring from a pool with a net! (Bravo on that by the way). On the plus side Maggie....Ernie, no1 in tricks - you know what I am saying! As ever, we have loved your updates. Vicky Falls. Another incredible experience and in the pictures you look happier than ever. What a lovely group you all are. I love the picture of Chris on the rocks. So much gratitude to him and everyone who has made this happen for you. Enjoy every minute of the last couple of days. We can't wait to have you home Maggie. Love you xx
ReplyDeleteAfter all your hard work, its great to see you all relaxing and sounds like a great day. The views at the bottom of the falls were worth the walk. Keep on making the most of it! X

ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous end to your adventures guys! Glad Cassie's ring was discovered! Looks like an amazing weekend. Izzy has just done the Cornwall quiz on your behalf George D, one of the questions being country flags (Zambia obviously) and the other being - the waterfalls you've visited on Esher High trips! Lots of Love xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you for the amusing update! You guys are sooo fortunate to have seen the Vic Falls .. one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World! Make the most of your last few days :-)
ReplyDeleteMaggie...Ciara...in my opinion this is the finniest blog yet...I'll have crocodile pizza and make it snappy !! That and Amelie stacking it has made me laugh a lot. You seem to have had the most amazing time. Thank you Chris Horrid for making this happen for our kids. I slightly suspect that life back in Molesey will be disappointing for them after this. But we cannot wait to hear more and more stories of this adventure. Enjoy every minute of your last few days xxx
ReplyDeleteLoved the blog tonight ladies, made me smile..you have definetly made the most of your time. Ciara can't wait to see you on Thursday and of course all the gang.. enjoy your last couple of days and looking forward to hearing all the stories. xxxx
ReplyDeleteCiara (re Thursday) - We will leave the key out for you. We will be out for dinner and enjoying the little time we have left of the 'peace and quiet'. Also, Elsa has claimed 'Finders Keepers' on your bedroom. Please can you hang the washing out, hoover the stairs and empty the dishwasher before we get home. I will pop to M&S to get you an egg sandwich for dinner. xx
DeleteDefinitely up there for the funniest blog of the trip girls (miss you Maggie), had us all laughing a lot though I did have to google the word scran.! Fab photos again, Chris the one with you on the rocks is such a stunning photo :) Dylan please try and wear something clean home, its a long, long journey as you know which will be so much more comfortable in clean clothing - hard to believe you're on your last day there now before the long journey home, we are all very ready to have you home, when you leave we also leave Crete Dylan - not sure Caroline and Lorraine will want to give Milo back and Lily will almost certainly not want to go back to her room.! Enjoy your last full day all of you. Much love - The Bakers x
